Response to COVID-19/Emergency Fund
Our high-risk young people are now more vulnerable than ever to poverty, trauma, and isolation. As an essential service, Roca is now delivering outreach and providing food and monetary support – all in compliance with strict social distancing guidelines – for 1,000 young people, and often their children, in 21 communities across Massachusetts and in Baltimore, Maryland.
Due to the significant impact of this crisis, we expect our participants to need urgent support through the Summer.
Our goal is to raise $250,000 to cover the following emergency support:
- Roca is providing deliveries of fresh and shelf-stable food, baby care supplies, hygiene products, and books, toys, and games for children on a biweekly basis to young men, young women, and their children at an estimated running cost of $40,000 per month.
- With nearly all of our young people out of work, Roca is working closely with our young people to stabilize their housing and health, including providing rent and utility support, and other emergency costs, at an estimated total cost of $75,000.
Thank you for your faith in and commitment to Roca’s young people in these challenging times.
